View Regional Medical Center is a 133-bed acute care facility that continues
to be one of the leading healthcare facilities in Southwest Virginia.
Since its foundation as St. Mary’s Hospital by the Sisters of the Poor
Servants of the Mother of God in 1948, the hospital has excelled at providing loving, compassionate care to all those in need.
Mountain
View continues to bring state-of-the-art equipment and services to the people of
our communities. Their services include: 24-hour emergency department services,
medical acute care services, surgical services (inpatient and outpatient),
intensive care services, home care and home medical equipment and supply
services. Their physician offices include the Dickenson Clinic, Health Care
Associates, Orthopedic Center and Pediatric Center.
Mountain View provides ancillary services that are among the leaders in modern
technology. Their laboratory ranks among the best equipped and most efficient in the region. The laboratory operates under the supervision of a board certified
pathologist and is certified through the Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations (JCHAO). Their
Radiology department has long been a leader, providing ultrasound, accredited mammography services, CT scanner,
mobile MRI, bone density, nuclear medicine and P.E.T. (Positron Emission
Topography) services. The rehabilitation services include physical, speech and occupational therapies.
The cardiopulmonary department offers both inpatient and outpatient
services to include sleep studies to assist patients with sleep disorders.
Mountain View has a dual-certified 44-bed Skilled/ Intermediate care unit at the
hospital. The unit is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCHAO). The unit provides compassionate care to those in need of both short-term
and long-term care.
Wellmont Mountain View Regional Medical Center medical staff consists of physicians with specialty
training in: cardiology, dentistry, emergency medicine, family practice,
gastroenterology, general medicine, internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology,
orthopedics, otolaryngology, pathology, pediatrics, podiatry, psychology,
pulmonary medicine, radiology, surgery and urology.
Norton Community
Hospital/Mountain States Health Alliance
Located
in Southwest Virginia in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains, Norton
Community Hospital (NCH)/Mountain States Health Alliance (MSHA) is a 129-bed, acute-care, not-for-profit facility
serving Southwest Virginia and Southeastern Kentucky. To improve access to
primary care, the hospital also operates four clinics, Community
Physicians-Norton, Community Physicians-Coeburn, Community Clinic-Wise, and
OccuMed Health Center. The largest facility in the coalfield region, NCH provides a wide array
of services through highly trained physicians and support staff. Norton Community Hospital is the only locally owned and operated
healthcare facility in our region. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission and the American
Osteopathic Association.
NCH’s
medical staff consists of over 80 physicians and surgeons with specialty
training in: family practice, internal medicine, ear-nose-throat, general
surgery, urology, pediatrics, emergency medicine, geriatric medicine, critical
care, cardiology, pulmonology, radiology, oncology, neurology, orthopedics,
gastroenterology, ophthalmology, obstetrics, gynecology and dentistry.
Programs
and services include intensive care/critical care/coronary care, 24-hour
emergency room services, pediatric care, laser surgery, outpatient surgery,
lithotripsy services, home health, dietary/nutrition support, pharmacy, and pain
management. Their radiological services include angiography, mammography, ultrasound,
nuclear medicine, in-house magnetic resonance imaging unit (MRI), and CT
scanner. Families no longer have to follow a path to several rooms when giving
birth. The Family Birthing Center has seven (7) LDRP suites that offer comfort,
care, and compassion unparalleled in the region. The Regional Lung Center offers pulmonary care, cardiac care, neurology,
and sleep medicine. The Regional Rehab Center offers occupational therapy, physical therapy,
pulmonary rehab, speech therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, an 11-bed inpatient
rehabilitation unit, and a community wellness program.
Norton
Community Hospital/Mountain States Health Alliance has enabled businesses to lower their medical care cost
through a comprehensive occupational medicine program at OccuMed Health Center. OccuMed offers nursing case management, work-related injury treatment and
follow-up, physicals, drug screenings, vaccinations, work-site safety analysis,
general health screenings, OSHA regulation compliance assistance, and industrial
rehabilitation. Community Home Care offers durable medical equipment such as
lift chairs, motorized scooters, limb braces, diabetic supplies, turbans, and a
private fitting room for mastectomy fittings.
The
Wanda Wampler Center for Women’s Health houses comprehensive women’s health
services. The center offers Stereotactic Breast Biopsy, Bone Densitometry, and
Mammography. Norton Community Hospital is an AOA accredited teaching facility. The residents of this program operate the Community Clinic located in the
Wise Professional Office Building.
Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital
Wellmont
Lonesome Pine Hospital is a 60-bed, acute-care facility established in 1973 and is a full partner in
Wellmont Health System. The hospital
is growing to better serve the people of Southwest Virginia and Eastern
Kentucky. A new emergency department
opened in 1999, a new intensive care unit opened in 2000, and the Edyth Bailey
Lindner Chapel was dedicated in 2003. Wellmont
Lonesome Pine is also a founding member of the Appalachian Regional Stroke
Center Network, a collaborative effort between several rural hospitals in
Southwest Virginia to better care for patients suffering from a stroke.
The hospital provides family practice, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics,
gynecology, general surgery, orthopedics, ENT, gastroenterology, pulmonology,
oncology, neurology and a full range of inpatient and outpatient services,
including radiology, laboratory, blood bank, home health, ophthalmology and
physical therapy and rehabilitation. Wellmont
Lonesome Pine continually recruits top physicians to best serve its patients.
Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital has assumed the full-time ownership and management of the
Southwest Virginia Regional Cancer Center in Norton, while maintaining its
ongoing community based focus and support. The hospital places a strong emphasis
on wellness and actively provides health education, health fairs, screenings,
support groups, and community support services. Wellmont Lonesome Pine is an active teaching site for nursing students
and others pursuing health careers.
